The Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation and Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB) organized “Preserve Thai Tradition, Revive the Forest, Maintain Water Sources Camp”27 April - 1 May 2018
The Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation, in cooperation with Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB), organized a camp called “Preserve Thai Tradition, Revive the Forest, Maintain Water Sources” at Huai Hong Khrai Royal Development Study Centre, Chiangmai province during 27 April – 1 May 2018. The participants comprised of 76 Young Ambassadors of Virtue and 16 teachers representing 29 schools from 8 Northern provinces of Thailand.
The camp offered the participants lessons on how to conserve water sources in accordance with the Royal project, by building weir fields for riverbank stabilization. Besides, the students had an opportunity to learn the importance of being self-sufficient through activities such as planting and livestock farming. They, furthermore, had gained knowledge of restoring the forest as well as controlling and preventing wildfires. This camp also provided the lessons on how to navigate while traveling on foot in the forest, and the ability to live in harmony with nature. It is the objective of the camp that the Young Ambassadors of Virtue are able to apply knowledge and experience obtained from this camp to their communities and schools.
After having completed this learning experience, 24 Young Ambassadors of Virtue and 4 teachers were chosen to be a part of a study trip to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with the intent to broaden their world views and exchange learning experiences.
