The Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation (YAVF), together with the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, implemented the project, “The Study VisitofYoung Ambassadors of Virtue to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic” during 12 – 18 December 2024 with 32 Young Ambassadors of Virtue, led by Ms. Chantipha Phutrakul, Director of the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation. The group consisted of 3 school directors, 5 teachers, 21 Young Ambassadors of Virtue representing 22 schools in 18 different provinces, 1 YAVF staff member, and 1 volunteer.
For the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, and Dr. Daravone Kittiphanh, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports to exchange views on the Lao PDR’s education system.
The group participated in knowledge exchange activities with students at 2 schools in Vientiane – one primary school and another secondary school – and a secondary school in Luang Prabang as follows:
1. Sombun Thungkang Primary School 2. Vientiane Secondary School, Vientiane
3. Pongkham High School, Luang Prabang
They also learned about history, culture, and Buddhist beliefs from their visits to historical places and museums, such as Pha That Luang, Wat Si Saket, Patuxai, Xieng Khuan Temple, and Xieng Thong Temple. They also learned about agricultural activities at the Huaysorn – Huaysua Agricultural Development and Service Center, which is one of the royal initiatives of King Rama 9th granted to the Lao people to support the development of agricultural livestock, fisheries, irrigation, and other areas.
The project was a success. Thanks to the support from the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, which coordinated the schedule for enriched learning experiences for the Young Ambassadors of Virtue, as well as provided an opportunity for them to learn more about the culture and the ways of life in a country that continues to instill a sense of national identity and patriotism in the younger generation. Moreover, the project also allowed students from both countries to exchange their learning experiences, which will lead to future contact between them.
