Act of Kindness Project to Youth in Sri Lanka by the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation

Sri Lanka was currently amid a severe economic crisis and shortages in basic necessities, including food, medicines and fuel. The country’s budget deficit affected education, prompting schools to shut down and students also stopped learning.

For this reason, the Foundation was well aware of student’s plight, which is why it implemented “Act of Kindness Project to Youth in Sri Lanka by the Young Ambassadors  of Virtue Foundation” from 1-30 August 2022. On behalf of the Foundation in times of such a crisis, a financial aid of 400,000 baht were delivered by H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, as scholarships for students in Sri Lanka. With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo, would procure basic necessities for 621 students in 4 religious Sri Lankan schools, where the team of Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation got the opportunity to visit in 2013. The schools are as follows:

1. Gunananda Maha Vidyalaya School, Colombo

2. Sri Sambodhi Viharaya English Dhamma School, Colombo

3. Dhamma Schools at Sri Paramananda Raja Maha Viharaya Temple, Galle           

4. Sri Narendrarama Raja Maha Vihara, Kandy

In addition to hosting lunch for students, the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo, delivered school materials, school uniforms, and sacks of rice to the four schools.
