China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, People’s Republic of China, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing and the Chinese Consulate-General overseas, organised the Youth Development for a Shared Future Summer Camp under the Silk Road youth exchange programme in Beijing and Xian during 6 – 12 July 2025. The camp aims to promote the exchange of cultural learning among 80 young people aged 15 – 18 from various countries and to encourage the spirit of the Silk Road. The Chinese Embassy in Thailand coordinated with the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation to select young Thai people to join the programme.
The Foundation selected 9 Young Ambassadors of Virtue from the high-school and university levels and 1 supervisor from 7 provinces in different regions of Thailand to exchange experiences and to build friendships with international peers from 12 countries, which are Malaysia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Gambia, Russia, Spain, Andorra, and Slovakia. They also learned about the history of the Silk Road and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), an economic route that connects Asia, Europe, and Africa and promotes trade and cooperation in the region, as well as China’s state-of-the-art technologies at museums and landmarks, as follows:
Beijing: Residence of Soong Ching Ling, the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, China Science and Technology Museum, Beijing National Stadium, and iFLYTEK, an AI company.
Xian: Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, Shaanxi History Museum, Shaanxi Auto New Energy Vehicle Exhibition Hall, and China Europe Railway Express Xi’an Assembly Center. The delegation also learned about the local way of life at Datang Everbright City.
The aforementioned programme is a collaboration between the Residence of Soong Ching Ling, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation, which provided an opportunity for the Young Ambassadors of Virtue to learn about Chinese history, and civilization, and the history of the Silk Road, creative use of technology by leading universities, and China’s modern science and technology. The Young Ambassadors were committed to share what they learned and plan to build on their passion by learning Chinese and studying in China in the future. The programme was an opportunity to strengthen young Thai people’s worldview and motivate them to be virtuous young people in society who will be ready to contribute to the nation’s development in the future.
