The group comprised 4 school directors, 6 teachers, 23 students representing 22 schools in 19 provinces, 1 YAVF staff member, and 1 volunteer.

For this visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, at the Royal Thai Embassy, and Mr. Johan Achmadi, Deputy Director of Primary Education, to discuss Indonesia’s education system.

They also participated in knowledge exchange activities with students at 2 primary schools in Jakarta and another primary school in Bogor as follows:

1. SDN Gambir 01 School, Jakarta

2. SND Kenari 08 School, Jakarta

3. SDN Kedung Badak 4 School, Bogor

This study visit provided them opportunity to visit the ASEAN Secretariat and received a lecture by Dr. Piti Srisangnam, Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, which highlighted the importance of ASEAN integration. The Permanent Mission of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta also arranged for the group to visit a conference room used by ASEAN member countries, which inspired the Young Ambassadors to desire to work for or be a part of the ASEAN Secretariat.

The group were fortunate to learn about Indonesia’s history, culture, and geography through their visits to museums and dominent sites, such as the National Museum of Indonesia, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and Bogor Botanical Gardens.

The project was a success, thanks to the excellent support from the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta, which organised a schedule for the delegation. The visits provided them with learning multi-dimensional opportunities and allowed them to observe a country with a rich history, culture, and their ways of life. The Young Ambassadors of Virtue can apply what they learned in real life and pass the lessons on to others in their schools.
