The Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation, together with the Department of South Asian, Middle East, and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implemented the Patron Project with the Embassy of Morocco in Thailand and the Bandon (Srisermkasikorn) School, Nan province. H.E. Mr. Phrommes Bhaholpolbhayuhasena, Ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Chantipha Phutrakul, Director of the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation, Mr. Kritphet Petchaburanin, Deputy Governor of Nan Province, and the School Director welcomed H.E Mr. Abderrahim Rahhaly, Ambassador of Morocco to Thailand, who also presided over the opening ceremony of the Patron Project on 26 January 2024.
The Patron Projectincluded the Learning Week during 5 – 25 January 2024, was aimed at promoting learning about Morocco among 6th grade students, covering topics such as culture, their ways of life, traditional clothing, landmarks, and cuisine.
At the opening ceremony, there was an exhibition organised by students from each educational level, showcasing various aspects of Morocco, including arts, culture, and landmarks. In addition to the exhibition, a series of interactive Thai – Morocco-themed activities were also held with a focus on Thai traditional dance arts (Fon Ngaen), Nan handicrafts (silverware and woven textile), and the football juggle contest between the Moroccan and Thai teams. The Embassy gave Moroccan national football jerseys as prizes for the contest.
The Embassy of Morocco in Thailand prepared introductory sessions on Moroccan language, music, folk dance, lifestyle, and landmarks. The Embassy also gave souvenirs to the school to be displayed at the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Room, so that students can continue to learn about Morocco.
During the school visit, the Moroccan Ambassador to Thailand expressed admiration for the students’ knowledge and their ability to engage in Q&A session and praised the seamless fusion of the Lanna and Moroccan traditional dance performance. The Ambassador also complimented students’ ability to give presentations at each station, as well as their beautiful and impressive artwork. He expressed confidence that educational and cultural activities like these will be carried out annually, as part of an effort to strengthen the long-standing friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Morocco.
