The Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation, in cooperation with the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB), organized an “Innovative Profession, Nourishing lives with Sufficiency Economy Pathway Camp” at Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Center, Chachoengsao province during 31 March – 4April 2018. The participants comprised of 122 Young Ambassadors of Virtue and 13 teachers, representing 48 schools from 13 provinces all around Thailand.
This camp aimed to promote learning and create occupations in accordance with King Rama IX’s guidance, emphasizing on sufficient ways of living. The Young Ambassadors had opportunities to learn about how to be self-reliant or self-sufficient from the New Agricultural Theory, initiated by the king. This also included many hands-on activities, such as conserving the typical condition of soil and water by growing vetiver plants, making natural fertilizers, airing layers on lime trees, making homemade herbal soaps, making handicrafts by using natural fibers and so on. Lastly, upon their visit to Ban Song Community Learning Center, they learned how to utilize resources to achieve maximum benefits through integrated farming.
After having completed this program, 26 Young Ambassadors of Virtue and 8 teachers were chosen to participate in the study trip to Lao People’s Democratic Republic in September 2018, with the purpose of expanding their knowledge and developing their friendship with youths in Lao PDR.
